Ok, the big news first: my website is up! You can go to and see for yourself if you don't believe me.
It's not 100% what i want yet, still there's but so much you can learn in a couple of months without having your brain melt. I think it turned out rather ok, seeing i figured out most things myself, using google excessively. I totally recommend using the firefox web developer toolbar if you're into webdesign. It makes life so much easier: it lets you take a look at html/css/javascript of other websites, gives you tools to better understand the structure of a page, easy access to html validators, etc. On a side note here: stop using Internet Explorer people, seriously. It is the most shitty browser you can have... besides Safari for windows perhaps.
ah well, back to my point: the website. I hope it looks a bit like 'me', you know, somewhat messy and sketchy, not too clean and so...
And now for something else: i just found out that one of my deviations (yes, sleeping handsome that is) has reached over a 100 favs. Much as i like this *does a little dance* it is somewhat disturbing to see how the quality of the comments has decreased since i first joined DA. I was going back looking through some of my old stuff in my gallery and i was surprised to find so many thoughtful comments. While now i should be happy when someone comments at all. What happened? Is this one of the reasons DA introduced the critique function? All i can conclude is that we spend less time on actually giving feedback, or an honest opinion, than we used to. Or have really all the nice people left DA for smaller communities like Conceptart and Imaginefx?
I'm not sure what to think of it, but i made the decision to no longer fav and run (unless i am really so awe struck that i can't think of anything sensible to say). After all, i prefer constructive criticism over favs any day, so it's only fair that i try to set the right example.
Now, a new list of thing you could check out if you have the time:
- Flight of the conchords! It's just crazy, absurd, silly...and with great songs! Best series i've seen in a while.
- The windsinger trilogy by Megan Lindholm (yes, that's Robin Hobbs real name). Although not her best work - that's without a doubt the farseer cycle - these books are absolutely fascinating. Personally i think they're more realistic in a way(if you can say that about fantasy), mostly because of the two lead characters: there's something in the way they think and act that makes them almost touchable. Vandien, the male protagonist, is probably my favorite character ever. He's just too adorable...and annoying.
- If you're into soundtracks/electronic or instrumental music, check this site out! It's honestly brilliant stuff.
